Stay Positive when office morale is low

Throughout my career, I’ve seen organizations and employees going through up’s and down’s. Here are few tips for your office staff that’ll definitely help keep your attitude stay positive.

  • Be the Champion – take on initiatives; make changes around the workplace which others will natural evolve towards. Most of all, be seen and be happy – it’s as simple as smile in many cases!
  • Switch to goal focused mode – given tough times in the market, achievements will not just come about easily, so be clear on what you are working towards and set achievable goals. Be sure to reward and celebrate when you do achieve a milestone or goal.
  • Be engaging – be open, set expectations and be in present to what’s going on around you. Stay away from office politics or banter
  • Create a social club or schedule an after hours event on the weekend, somewhere casual where colleagues can get to know each other better and enjoy themselves.
  • Personalize your space – have symbols which remind you of your goals, photo’s of people you make you happy but remember also to bee in professional!
  • Suggest a causal Friday might assist in changing the energy levels in the office. Perhaps you could all support a charity and raise funds on this day. This is create a more social, friendly environment.
